Provides men of African ancestry with culturally-appropriate primary health care services to improve access to health care such as:
- Health promotion and wellness education
- Primary medical care with a family doctor
- Chronic disease management
- Navigation to community resources
- Community group connections
Areas of focus include:
- Diabetes
- Heart disease
- High blood pressure
- Mental health and addictions
- Nutrition and physical activity
- Obtaining health information
- Prostate cancer
- Other chronic disease/illness
Health professionals available include a family doctor, registered nurse, wellness navigator, clinical therapist, social workers, and psychiatry services.
Offers mentorship.
Offers the Men's Health League, a volunteer peer-to-peer support group for Black men to spread key health messages to other men in the community through social and physical activities. Promotes the health and wellness services of the Nova Scotia Brotherhood health care team.- Eligibility
