Service Description

COVID-19 UPDATE: NSHA Mental Health and Addictions clinicians are still available and can meet with you over the phone or through virtual video visit software

A 2-week program for individuals that require a more intensive and daily treatment option.

Individuals may benefit from this type of program if they recently left an inpatient treatment program (i.e. detox) or need more help making changes to their substance use and/or gambling after trying other community based treatment methods.

The program includes:

  • A focus on increasing your understanding of addiction and recovery  
  • Developing skills to improve your ability to cope with difficult emotions
  • Development of a personal recovery plan/li>
  • Self-care practice while in the program and the support to continue recovery efforts in the community
  • Inclusion of family or loved ones in the treatment process

Explores a variety of topics and skills such as:

  • Relapse prevention
  • Refusal skills
  • How the brain is impacted by addiction
  • Self-care strategies
  • Healthy leisure options
  • Mindfulness
  • Coping with anxiety


Adults 19 or over with moderate to severe substance use disorder and/or gambling issues

Application Process

A referral from your Mental Health and Addictions Program clinician is needed to attend this program

Mental Health and Addictions Intake is available by phone Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm • The line is voicemail only on evenings, weekends and statutory holidays

Program meets Monday-Friday, 9:30am-3:30pm (except for every second Tuesday when the program meets 1pm-6:30pm)
